World's largest companies 2017

Business

Another year we compiled the list of the largest companies in the world. With a value of 686 billion euros and with customers in almost every corner of the planet, Apple, maintains the leadership and remains the largest company in the world for another year. It is closely followed by Alphabet, whose main subsidiary is Google with 544 billion euros. Third is another technology giant, Microsoft. Thus, the first three positions are maintained compared to 2016.

By country, the dominance of the United States remains overwhelming, with 53 companies included within the 100 largest companies in the world, practically half of them originate in the United States. In second place is China with a total of 10 companies and in third place Great Britain with a total of 6 companies.

If we look at the sectors that make up the list, non-cyclical consumer companies dominate with a total of 29 companies (the first in the list is Johnson & Johnson), the financial sector -banks- with 21 companies, the sector of the communications with 15 companies and finally the technological one with 8 companies, highlighting Apple that tops the list.

The first Spanish company in the ranking of world companies is Inditex, which is ranked 60 (6 places better than 2016). This year Banco Santader enters the list at number 97, the rest of the companies that lead the Ibex 35 are outside the first 100 largest companies in the world.
