World's Largest Companies 2021

After the strong rises of last year, five companies are placed above a trillion dollars (trillion English) and one of them, the giant technology Apple is located above 2 trillion dollars. Figure similar to the GDP of Italy.

We can see below, the list of 2021 with the 100 companies that are worth the most in the world from highest to lowest. To do this, we use its market capitalization on the stock market, that is, what it would cost to buy the company today.

As we mentioned, Apple, the technology that changed the world, is in the first position with a value of more than two trillion dollars. It has benefited, along with the rest of the technology companies, from the strong injections of liquidity around the world to get out of the pandemic. Its price is already higher than the Italian GDP. As many wonder, where is the limit?

In second place is the Saudi oil company, Aramco, with a value of 1.8 trillion dollars. Followed closely by the other three tech companies that have skyrocketed in value in the last 12 months, Microsoft, Amazon, and Alphabet (which owns Google).

It is already becoming common for large technology companies to lead the table, leaving behind banks or energy companies as in the past. There are already eight of the top 10 positions that are occupied by technology: Apple, Microsoft, Amazon, Alphabet (Google), Facebook, Tesla, Alibaba and Tencent. The other two are an oil company (Aramco) and the famous investment fund of the genius Warren Buffett (Berkshire Hathaway).

This year it is worth highlighting the vertiginous rise of Tesla, which last year was in position 65 and this year it is placed in number eight, rising no less than 57 positions, multiplying its value by four in just one year.

The largest companies in the world by country

If we analyze the list by country, the United States is still clearly the world's leading power in terms of the number of large companies, with 57 companies on the list of the 100 largest companies in the world. On the other hand, China already has 14 companies. While the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Japan and the Netherlands are tied for third place with three companies each.

This year neither Spanish nor Latin American companies appear on the list. However, the textile giant Inditex would find it if we made the list a little longer, since it is in position 138, with a market value of 102.45 billion dollars.
