Countries with the largest black markets in the world
In this ranking we order the countries according to the approximate value of their black market. We also include the value of the black market with respect to GDP, since due to the large size of the great powers they will always tend to come out in the top positions.
The black market is part of the underground economy, but it does not include everything, so it does not include corruption or legal activities not declared to the treasury. What this ranking does take into account are the illegal sectors of medicines, drugs, organs, weapons, prostitution, foreign exchange and copyrighted products.
The dubious honor of the first place is for the United States, although as I mentioned it is due in large part to the large volume of its economy, since it only represents 3.37% of its GDP. Therefore, excluding the United States and China, the three countries with a large black market, both in absolute data and as a percentage of their GDP, are Mexico, Spain and Italy.
Here are the estimated black market data by country (in billions of dollars and as a percentage of GDP):
|No.||Country||Black Market *||Percentage of GDP|
|47||United Arab Emirates||1,1||0,28%|
